Two or more sources of light must behave as coherent sources, if they are monochromatic (of single frequency) and have constant phase difference i.e. frequency of the sources must be same. The condition of coherency can be achieved only when all the monochromatic sources emerge out the crests/troughs at the same time. This is accomplished by passing monochromatic light through double slits, reflection or refraction.
